Wake up and write

Every day I wake up, drink enough black coffee to fuel an elephant, and write.

My wife, kids, and dogs are still asleep and I have a moment where I can actually focus before the day kicks in to full gear.

I'll open my 2019 MacBook Air and either write about what I feel inspired to write about, or pull from a long list of topics, ideas, or angles I built up in my notes app.

Sometimes I'll also pull from recent content that did better than average, or better yet...

Just pull snippets from my products.

Some of the best content you can create comes directly from the solution you're offering, because it's perfectly aligned.

Content ideas aside, one of the reasons I like writing first thing is it just seems to start the day off right.

I learned the concept of "the first hour of your day is yours and yours alone" years back from Ben Settle, although his reasoning when he started doing that was to build his own thing before doing client work...

Even though I'm not a freelancer, my experience has only been positive because I'm able to be what I consider productive on something important to me before doing anything else.

If you're building something of your own too, then I highly recommend giving the "wake up and write" strategy a shot.

The only catch is you have to wake up early enough to fit it in your schedule.

Fortunately, my method doesn't take much time to do.

And I lay out everything inside my upcoming ebook, How To Start An Email Based Biz.
